On the southern border of San Francisco lies the Excelsior district which comprises Mission Terrace, Portola, and Crocker-Amazon. The Excelsior enjoys a border with San Francisco’s second-largest green space, McLaren Park. McLaren is home to great hiking trails, Gleneagles golf course – a mixed-use golf and disc golf course – and the park is home to Jerry Day – the annual commemoration of Jerry Garcia, lead singer of the Grateful Dead. The Excelsior district is bursting with families, colorful murals, and diversity.
